Pushing too Hard and Self-Care

Pushing too Hard and Self-Care

I generally keep to a regular writing schedule and have been writing about each hormone and answering 5 questions for each hormone. Last week I took a little detour and published the talk I gave last Sunday.

This week … we’re taking a left turn at Albacerque.

Some of you will know that I have been pushing very hard the past several months. First it was to launch a detox program. Then I was relaunching my website under a different platform along with simultaneously getting a weight loss program ready for release on September 17th.   Step Into Sexy is a 6 Week Hormone Balancing, Energy Producing weight loss program. Because it’s not all about losing weight. The more important benefits are balancing your hormones and increasing your energy because I don’t know about you but sometimes it’s in really short supply, especially when I’ve been carrying extra fat around with me. Then there was Success in the City 2, also on September 17th, which was amazing. And I gave my first talk on September 25th.

Please don’t get me wrong … I have loved every crazy, stressful, tiring moment of it. But all those hours, not eating as well as I normally do, not getting enough sleep and not exercising every day caught up with me and I got sick. Nothing horrible. Nothing life threatening. I caught a nasty cold. It had been playing with me for about 3 weeks. And instead of listening to my body and especially to my gut, I kept pushing. So this weekend, it caught up with me I have had no energy, no ambition, no creative energy to write, to cook, to do much of anything other than watch tv and sleep. And that’s what I did.

I took a couple of days to myself to recharge so that I can sprint through the next couple of months until I leave my corporate job and focus on this amazing field of health and wellness. I want to be able to devote myself to you … to be there to answer questions, meet with you, give you advice and be your cheerleader.

The balance of this year is looking to be exciting and busy and full of exciting happenings around Stepping Stones Wellness. But first and foremost I must practice what I preach and practice self care as my beautiful Resilientista Celia is always reminding me to do. And in caring for myself, I will be able to serve you better.

Wishing you a very healthy, happy, productive week. I will be back on my regular schedule next weekend. And for my Canadian friends, a long weekend with turkey dinner is coming up next weekend.

With much love ….

Sandy

Great post !! and reminder to practice self care on the daily … if we don’t listen to what we need mind, body, soul … things will happen that force us to pay attention, slow down and nurture our self. feel better..

Thank you Celia. I have a really bad history of not listening until I get sick. Then I listen. Not great coming from a Nutritionist but I am, after all, only human. It’s been a very good lesson for me and going forward I will make self care more of a priority. Thank you for your guidance and your loving reminders <3

    Dearest Sandy,
Yes, we have to balance it all out equally or we will pay for it later!
    Great post as a reminder.
    Sending you hugs,
    Mariette
